Canadian Comedy Podcasts
Do you listen to any of any Canadian comedy podcasts? The CBC put together a list of their favourites, like Stop Podcasting Yourself, from Graham Clark and Dave Shumka, from Vancouver.
And from the other side of Canada, there’s the Sickboy podcast, from Jeremie Saunders, Taylor MacGillivary and Brian Stever.
Sketch Comedy
Wikipedia has a list of sketch comedy groups in Canada, but it seems incomplete. Who would you add to that list?
And no offence to the legends like Kids in the Hall, and Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie, but here must be newer groups that should be in the list!
Funny Canadians
The BBC wonders why Canadians are so funny, and Rob Salem has some answers. This article is a couple of years old, but comedy is timeless, eh?
There’s a long list of funny Canadians, and even William Shatner gets a mention.
According to the article, the first major work of Canadian comedy was written by a Presbyterian minister, Thomas McCulloch. I never would have guessed that!
Comedy Television
There are a couple of new comedy shows coming to Canadian television too. First, are you ready for a Quebecois version of Brooklyn Nine-Nine? Even if you aren’t ready, it’s coming to CTV. The series will be directed by Quebec actor Patrick Huard, from “Bon Cop, Bad Cop” .
And CBC is getting new comedy shows too, including Family Feud Canada, hosted by Gerry Dee. It will be fun to see him hosting this show, which he says is as much a comedy show as it is a game show.
