Mmmmm… Today, October 25th, is Greasy Food Day! That’s good news for me, but not for the dogs. As the video below explains, greasy food is something that you should not feed your dog. So what would be some good dog treats for National Greasy Food Day?
Wild Venison Dog Treat Bones
Small bones or brittle bones are NOT good treats for dogs, as the video below says. Instead, give your dog a treat like these Nylabone Wild Venison dog treat bones. They’re made from all-natural ingredients, and are easy for your dog to digest.
Chicken and Venison Dog Food
The video below also says that venison, and other foods, are too fatty for dogs to eat, when those dishes are prepared “people-style”. Instead, give your dogs the type of food that is specially prepared for them, like this grain-free chicken and venison wet dog food. I assume you can feed it to dry dogs too! (I’ll “paws” while you think about that — we love our dog jokes, here at Dog Leash Comedy!)
Turkey Leg Chew Toy
And here’s one more of the best dog treats for National Greasy Food Day – a turkey leg chew toy. It’s not greasy (but it might get slobbery), and it doesn’t have dangerous brittle bones, so your dog will be safe! Puppy can chew on this while everyone else eats Thanksgiving dinner in November (or October, if your dog is Canadian).
National Breadstick Day
But, just because your dog can’t eat greasy food, doesn’t mean they can’t celebrate today — it’s also National Breadstick Day! This event falls on the last Friday every October. Why? I have no idea!
The American Kennel Club says it’s usually okay to feed bread to your dog, unless they have allergies to its ingredients. Check with your veterinarian though, if you’re not sure it’s safe for your dog.
So, in honour of National Breadstick Day, here’s a video of a Siberian husky eating breadsticks. The dog’s name is Laika, and it’s the first time that she’s tried this crunchy, tasty, treat.
Laika is a beautiful dog, but I’ll watch with the volume turned down, because I hate the sound of chewing! (That’s called misophonia, for you science-y types.)
