Some comedians are popular because people recognize them from roles in television series, or in movies. However, comedian Sebastian Maniscalco gained his fans the hard way – by many years of performing in comedy clubs. People loved his shows, and would come back another night, bringing their friends.
Maniscalco started his comedy career in 1998, by performing at open mic nights, while he worked as a waiter at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. That would be a good place to meet Hollywood’s famous and powerful people!

TV and Movie Roles
Although Maniscalco didn’t gain fame by appearing in a television series or in movies, he has had a few roles recently. His latest role is in the Netflix movie, The Irishman, which stars Robert De Niro. Maniscalco plays Joseph “Crazy Joe” Gallo, and you can watch the movie on Netflix, starting on November 27, 2019.
Maniscalco was also in the movie, Green Book, as Johnny Venere, the brother of Vito’s wife, Dolores.

This Doorbell video is a great example of Maniscalco’s physical comedy and facial expressions, while telling a story. And it’s also funny because it’s true, and we can all relate to the difference between hearing the doorbell ring 20 years ago, compared to hearing it ring today.
Did your mother always have a cake ready, in case somebody dropped by? “You’d better hope somebody comes over, so we can cut the cake.”
As you’ll see, Maniscalco doesn’t just tell a joke, he shows you the joke, with his facial expressions, and great physical comedy. “Get down, Ma! Army crawl!”
