Mmmmm… Today, October 25th, is Greasy Food Day! That’s good news for me, but not for the dogs. As the video below explains, greasy food is something that you should not feed your dog. So what would be some good dog treats for National Greasy Food Day?
Today is National Chocolate Cupcake Day, October 18th, so what dog treats can you give to your pup, that aren’t chocolate? I’m sure you know that chocolate is toxic to dogs, so you shouldn’t give them any. It could give them a stomach upset, or much, much worse!

Happy Thanksgiving to our American friends, who are celebrating today. You’re probably “stuffed” with turkey, potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, macaroni and cheese, biscuits, cranberry sauce, gravy and pie. But no matter how much you’ve eaten, there’s always room for a bit of Thanksgiving comedy! WKRP Turkey Drop episode is just what you need!
Being a parent is a big, complex job! Today, November 8th, is National Parents as Teachers Day, so let’s take a minute to appreciate how important our role as teachers is.
We celebrate lots of silly events here at Dog Leash Comedy, like National Taco Day, National Cat Day and Crush a Can Day. This month, we’re promoting a serious event – Movember. It’s a world-wide fundraising event that runs all through November each year. I’m participating, and please support this important cause, if you can.
Today, October 29th, is National Cat Day – not to be confused with National Black Cat Day, which was October 27th. I hope you didn’t walk under any ladders that day!
Apparently, October 26th is National Pumpkin Day, so let the festivities begin. Maybe we celebrate this event, because all the parents rush out on October 26th, to buy a pumpkin to carve for Halloween. Or, the evil pumpkin conglomerates could just be playing mind games with us! Nah.

Did you know that the first Wednesday in October is Walk to School Day? This year, that day falls on October 3rd, and if we’re lucky, it won’t be snowing yet, here in Ontario, Canada. It’s easier to walk to school if you’re not wearing snow boots, and 12 layers of clothes, like little brother Randy, in the movie, A Christmas Story.
How many ways can you crush a can? September 27th is National Crush a Can Day. Nobody knows who created this holiday, but it’s a great opportunity to smash things, and get rid of some of your energy or frustrations.
September 24 is Punctuation Day, and it has me thinking of the old “Headlines” segment from ‘The Tonight Show.” Here are a couple of classic punctuation fails for Punctuation Day
First, here is a sign from a public washroom, and it could cause confusion.
With only three punctuation points on the sign, it’s really open for any interpretation you choose.
Is the sign for the toilet, about the toilet, or is this the “attention toilet”?
What store has so many disabled, elderly, pregnant children, that it needs to dedicate a toilet specifically for them?
Is “elderly children” a fun way to say teenager?
Hmmm…where should the punctuation go in this “No Soliciting” sign?
This sign defines irony in a way that Alanis Morissette never could.
Missing punctuation has turned this warning to potential violators, into a “get out of jail free” card.
This sign lacks the ability to form a proper sentence… get it?
Today is the United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation.
Pretty self explanatory right?
At first glance, it seems like a very attainable goal, or a horribly vague mission statement.
Don’t worry, I googled it for you, and it’s a term for trade between countries in the global south. A term that was coined in 1955. I think it’s safe to say that a lot of terms from the 50’s could be improved upon.

September the 12th is:
National Video Game Day, Chocolate Milkshake Day, and the Day Of Encouragement. How will you honour these timeless traditions?
I can only assume that Video Game Day, and Milkshake Day were established first, and when someone saw what was being celebrated, they thought a little encouragement might help.
Skip forward to the 50 second mark, and you’ll see Jason(not me) lose his lead on the final lap of Mario Kart, then express an emotion that we’ve all felt.
Now, this video was posted because the videographer thought the kid’s meltdown was hilarious, but I was captured by what his friend did.
He took a stand for the Day Of Encouragement.
I think his first instinct was to direct physical demonstration of the emotional explosion(freakout) away from his TV, and gaming system. I feel like this was a wise move that prevented possible escalation of the situation.
After that this kid talked Jason down like a gosh darned angel:
